Welcome to Most Holy Trinity's page. We are an Anglican-Catholic community of faith in the Méier neighborhood, in the heart of Rio’s “Zona Norte” (Northern Zone). We are a parish of the Diocese of Rio de Janeiro, which is a diocese of the Igreja Episcopal Anglicana do Brasil (the Episcopal Anglican Church of Brazil), a church in full communion with the See of Canterbury.
The Church of the Most Holy Trinity was one of the first Anglican congregations founded in Brazil for Portuguese-speaking Brazilians. Although there had been English Anglican Chaplaincies in Rio de Janeiro since the early 19th century, our parish was the second Anglican congregation to be founded as a congregation to serve the needs of Brazilian people.
Our community life is focused around the celebration of the Sacraments, the proclamation of the Gospel, the teachings from Holy Tradition, a life of committed prayer, and the beauty of liturgical worship. We try to keep Tradition alive, but we also try to be attentive to what the implications of the Gospel are for our own time and place. We hear the Holy Spirit calling us to recognize the Gospel message that in Jesus Christ all have been loved by God, and God desires all to be drawn to loving relationship with Him. Thus, we seek to embrace all people, regardless of ethnicity, age, social class, gender or sexual orientation. Our mission is to proclaim to all, in word and deed, the unconditional and all-embracing love of God, which has been revealed in Jesus Christ, who became human and offered himself in sacrifice for us.
Come visit us! We would love to grow in Christ's love with you.
